Question by aaaaaaa: Benzodiazapines that are really helpful for someone who has panic attacks while driving/riding on highways.?
I really want to get back home. I live 1250 miles from where I am now. I miss home and family there, but I have a tremendous fear and panic attacks driving/riding on highways/freeways?
A benzodiazapine that is totally useful for this would be very much appreciated. One that I can take on an as needed basis.
One that gets rid of the anxiety that comes before the drive and during the drive.
Answers would be immensely appreciated.
Thank you.
Serious and knowledgeable replies please.

My doctor prescribes 2mg Valium for my panic attacks xxx
Edit: Can’t believe how many people are on Ativan – I assume you are all in the States because it’s BANNED in the UK !! I was on that years ago and it’s highly addictive and messes you up. You could go and talk to your doctor as he may prefer to put you on one of the low dose SSRI’s as some of those do well for panic attacks. In the UK Cipromil is used but I think it has a different name in America xx

Valium, but don’t take more than you are supposed at a time.
i take Vistaril for my panic and anxiety. benzo’s are so HIGHLY addictive. i was hooked (addicted) to Ativan and then they put me on Xanax which just got me more addicted. i would suggest something other than a benzo. Vistaril works just as well if not better than benzo’s that i have been on. i have been on this medication for almost 2 years and it has truly worked super for me.
i hate you are so far away from home. have you thought of flying or taking a train (Amtrak)?
i wish you all the best! good luck sweetie!
you might not want to take it and drive….benzodiazepines tend to make people drowsy…personally as a nurse, i prefer xanax or ativan….but they do tend to cause drowsiness.
Well any of the meds that are in the benzo family might help but they are also sedatives…ie might make you sleepy…and that is bad if you are driving yourself those 1250 miles.
I’m currently taking Ativan and it helps alot with my anxiety and panic attacks. But ativan is the weakest in the family.
I would suggest you talk to a doc about this…they would really be the one to tell you which would be best if any…there are other option besides using a benzo…I don’t remember their name but they also help with anxiety and panic attacks…buspar(something like that)…
Good Luck
